It is a good idea to travel to some of these areas in the world, on short-term mission trips, to see the great need of the world for Christ. Also, if you or your church have been supporting a missionary for a number of years, it would be good to present yourselves on a short-term trip to see how effective or not your support has been. Accountability is more than just a picture or a newsletter once a year. Surely if the church is growing complacent, we should realize that mission societies might be experiencing the same complacency. Remember, the mission field is not about us staying on indefinitely, it is about us equipping the nationals for the long haul. Our mission field should begin with our family, next our friends and associates, then our communities, spread through out our country, and finally to the utmost part of the world.
